Architect/Professor of Architecture
Wentworth Institute of Technology

Biography
Ann is a registered architect and a professor of architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. She completed her undergraduate studies on the East coast and earned her Master of Architecture degree at UC Berkeley. Professor Borst spent fifteen years in professional practice, working primarily on public projects such as public schools, universities, libraries, and senior centers and found this type of work to be immensely rewarding since the primary focus of the building process was to fulfill community needs and aspirations.
In 1998 she joined the full-time faculty in the department of architecture at Wentworth, an urban college with a strong community outreach program. Her teaching expertise includes architectural design, urban design, and emerging building technologies. Professor Borst’s funded research has been based in France, where shje has studied contemporary architecture and regenerative urban projects in Paris and several regional capitals. Her research focus is urban reclamation projects and the transformation of large-scale post-industrial sites.
She has become interested in combining her experience as an architect with her role as an educator by offering courses that engage students in the process of designing, developing, and implementing community-based urban housing projects. She also plans to establish an independent architect / developer practice to pursue small- to moderate- scale multi-unit housing projects in Boston, and to explore how design can reinforce and enhance local urban character. Professor Borst looks forward to studying the fundamentals of real estate development and finance to advance these goals.
