Art Weiss Industrial Properties (AWIP)
The Art Weiss portfolio began to take shape in 1956, when the founder, Mr. Art Weiss, took time away from his used car lot in El Monte, CA, to venture into general contracting. He began constructing build-to-suit and spec buildings for local San Gabriel Valley business owners. Mr. Weiss's general contracting career soon evolved into full-time development. Today, that portfolio has reached its third generation and consists of 40 locations around the San Gabriel Valley, totaling approximately 750,000 square feet and housing 125 tenants.
Role
As the President, majority stakeholder and grandson of the founder, Matthew leads the strategic direction of the company, focusing on expansion and acquisitions in the commercial real estate sector. He also manages a large volume of transactions and oversees a diverse portfolio of assets. He is dedicated to fostering a high-performing team, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, upholding corporate governance and promoting innovation. With his leadership and extensive industry expertise, Matthew has been instrumental in achieving AWIP's strategic objectives.
Experience
With a career in commercial real estate that began in 2001, Matthew brings over 20 years of experience to AWIP. A licensed broker and general contractor, he has a comprehensive understanding of the industry's nuances. His expertise covers industrial acquisitions, construction, management and leasing. Matthew is responsible for acquiring more than 1m square feet of industrial buildings, originating over 10 million square feet of industrial leases comprised of over 500 transactions. Additionally, he has secured in excess of $150,000,000 in commercial financing. Matthew has consistently guided projects from inception to success, building strong client and stakeholder relationships along the way.
