Biography

David is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Argosy Real Estate Partners (AREP), where has general management responsibilities for the firm’s investment strategy, asset management, operations, and fundraising. He is a member of the firm's Investment Committee and Management Committee.   AREP is a manager of opportunistic, value-add, core-plus, and Opportunity Zone real estate private equity funds focused on the middle market.   AREP, which has approximately $2.5 billion in real estate AUM, makes joint venture equity investments alongside operating partners in the multifamily, single-family build-to-rent, lodging, office, retail, life sciences, industrial, and residential land asset classes.  AREP currently manages ten discretionary, diversified real estate investment funds on behalf of institutional investors, family offices and high net worth individuals in the U.S., Europe and Asia.  

David is also Co-Founder, CEO and Managing Partner of Argosy-Lionbridge Management (ALM).  ALM is an asset management firm focused on investments in public real estate securities through a hedge fund vehicle.  David is also on the Advisory Board of 1Sharpe Ventures, an early stage proptech venture capital firm. He has over 26 years of real estate experience, closing in excess of $7 billion of real estate transactions.

Previously, he was Vice President in the real estate investment group of J.P. Morgan Investment Management. David joined JPM from AIG Global Real Estate, a global opportunistic real estate private equity investor, where he was a Vice President. He started his career in the real estate investment banking department of Robertson Stephens, a subsidiary of both Bank of America and FleetBoston. 

David is very involved with Stanford University, where he is an inductee to Stanford Associates for outstanding volunteer service to Stanford University. David is Co-Founder and Planning Committee Member of the Stanford Alumni Real Estate Council (SREC), a group of the most influential Stanford alumni in the real estate industry.  He currently serves as a Founding / Emeritus Member of the Board of Directors and Past President (2017-2020) of Stanford Professionals in Real Estate (SPIRE). David is also an Advisory Board Member of the Water in the West program, a joint program of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the Bill Lane Center for the American West, which marshals the resources of Stanford University toward solving the Western United States' growing water scarcity problem. 

David is a member of ULI's National Small Scale Development Council. He is also on the President’s Council of the Real Estate Roundtable, which brings together leaders of the nation’s top real estate firms with the leaders of major national real estate trade associations to jointly address key national policy issues relating to real estate and the overall economy.  David is also on the Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center at UC Berkeley and is a member of the Executive Committee for the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate at the University of Southern California.  He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of St. Helena and Calistoga and served as Co-Chairman of the capital campaign to build a new Calistoga facility.

David earned a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in Economics from Stanford University as well an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
