Steve Fried is a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Head of Originations at Mesa West Capital, overseeing national loan originations teams in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. Steve joined Mesa West in 2005, has been a member of the senior leadership team since 2013, and helped grow Mesa West into one of the leading U.S. real estate private credit managers. Steve previously co-led Mesa West’s originations efforts, continues to serve on both Mesa West’s investment and management committees, and has over 18 years of investing experience.
Prior to joining Mesa West in 2005, Steve worked as a Senior Accountant for Deloitte & Touche’s Private Equity Group in New York and earned his CPA. Steve received an M.B.A. from UCLA's Anderson School of Management and a BA in accounting from Yeshiva University. Steve is on the board of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate and is actively involved in the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate, Urban Land Institute and Mortgage Bankers Association. Steve is also a cabinet member of the Make-A-Wish real estate division.
