Raphael Bostic, a research economist with the USC Lusk Center on Real Estate, said Ameriquest\'s closing of branches is \"probably a retrenching on their part to reflect the new environment in interest rates that is really dampening demand\" for refinancing. Also he said the expanding role of online lending is reducing the need for branches.
