Michelle Langer is Senior Vice President of Capital Markets at Cottonwood Communities, a $2.5 billion real estate investment trust (REIT) specializing in multifamily properties across the U.S. Since joining in 2013, she has led capital raising and distribution strategies, helping launch 19 investment offerings—including opportunity zone funds, international debt funds, and Cottonwood’s $1 billion perpetual NAV REIT—collectively raising over $1.5 billion in investor capital.
Previously, Michelle was Vice President of Real Estate Investments for a full-service financial and estate planning firm, overseeing its real estate division and specializing in tax-deferral strategies under IRS sections 1031 and 721. She began her career at Re/Max Commercial Brokerage, co-founding its Major Asset Division in West Los Angeles and helping build one of Southern California’s top multifamily brokerage teams.
Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA and a MBA from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. A frequent industry speaker, she is also a dedicated advocate for type-1 diabetes awareness and was recognized as a top individual fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association in 2003, 2004, 2011, 2014 and 2018.
Michelle lives in Brentwood with her husband and three children.
