Oil and Water: The Future of Green Development in Los Angeles

When?

October 28, 2009

The Yale Club of Southern California's Real Estate Finance and Development Forum and the University of Southern California's Lusk Center for Real Estate are proud to present Oil and Water: The Future of Green Development in Los Angeles. Framed around the literal and figurative meanings of the city's most critical resources: oil and water, the event will examine how the historically contentious relationships between public and private development must be bridged to create a sustainable Los Angeles.

As the "green revolution" has gained momentum in the mainstream, cities are being challenged to rethink accepted planning and development paradigms. This shift is prompting a new debate about how the public and private arenas must work together to facilitate an integrated approach to urban growth. The panelists will not only debate how new Public/Private Partnerships are currently changing Los Angeles, but they will also examine what tools, creative collaborations, and methods must be created to fully realize a sustainable future for Los Angeles.

Panelists include:
Walker Wells (moderator), Director, Green Urbanism
