Bond Initiative Post-mortem: Where to from here?

Please join Senator Alan Lowenthal (D) Long Beach, Wally Baker of LAEDC, Jeff Kightlinger of the Metropolitan Water District, and Mark Pisano of SCAG for breakfast as they discuss the results of the November 7, 2006 infrastructure bond initiative. Over $42 Billion - the largest amount in state history - in General Obligation Bonds to fund transportation, flood protection, school construction, housing, and water supply protection will be subject to voter approval.

Regardless of the outcome of these initiatives, state and local governments and business interests will be affected. If they pass, we will be challenged to appropriate and spend the funds on the best projects. If they fail, we will need to develop alternative funding strategies to address the state’s enormous deficit in infrastructure investment. Our panelists and their organizations were deeply involved in this process and will provide valuable insights on where we go from here and how we get there.

The breakfast is scheduled for Thursday morning, November 9, 2006, at the Embassy Room in the Davidson Conference Center on the USC Campus, 3415 South Figueroa Street. Breakfast begins at 7:30am and the discussion at 8:00am.

There is no charge for this event.

Parking is available for $7 at Gate 4 off of Jefferson Boulevard, just west of Figueroa Street.
