February 2000, Race Immigrant Status, and Home ownership

Gary Painter
2000
Abstract:
Recent years have witnessed substantial academic research and policy debate regarding access to homeownership, particularly among racial and ethnic minorities. While the aggregate homeownership rate has moved up during the past decades, blacks and Latinos lagged significantly in attaining homeownership. Further, the gap between minority and white households in attaining homeownership widened markedly during the decade of the 1980s.
