More Women Studying for Real Estate Degrees

September 23, 2005

The number of women studying for a master's degree in real estate development is at an all-time high, according to the University of Southern California's Lusk Center for Real Estate.
A third of the incoming class for the center's master's degree program are women, the highest percentage to date.
"We have found that women graduates frequently become entrepreneurs because they want flexibility when raising their families," said Sonia Sullivan, the Lusk Center's director of Alumni and Student Services.
Women represent more than half of all residential real estate brokers nationwide, but still less than 7 percent of commercial real estate brokers working on commission, according to the Wall Street Journal.
