County approves lease for vacant land

May 18, 2005

LOS ANGELES — The county Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved a controversial lease agreement with a local developer that paves the way for the construction of a multimillion dollar county office building on property left unattended since the 1992 riots.

Gary Painter, the director of research for the USC Lusk Center for Real Estatecolor>, said considering the property has been left vacant for more than 10 years, any proposed development is most likely going to be a positive one.
