Val Achtemeier is Vice Chairman at CBRE in the Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group. With a strategic national perspective focused on logistics/industrial, data center, office, and other commercial assets, Val leads a team dedicated to successful executions of capital markets transactions including debt & equity procurement, joint venture formations, ground leases, investment dispositions, and all aspects of capital markets activities. Her team arranges and advises clients on transactions throughout the capital stack – senior mortgages, mezz loans, pref equity, joint venture and hybrid structures. Val has originated, structured and closed over $40 billion of real estate transactions during her career throughout the U.S. with an emphasis on portfolio loans, development projects and larger loans for all property types. Val is a part of the market leading industrial/logistics CBRE Capital Markets team called National Partners that focuses on industrial investment sales and financing transactions throughout the U.S.
Prior to CBRE, Val was Director of Capital Markets at Majestic Realty Co. for 14 years and a member of their Board of Directors. Val gained institutional and capital markets expertise during her 11 year career at Principal Financial Group with a focus on joint venture developments, debt, asset management, and acquisitions. Val has over 30 years of experience and is highly regarded as a trusted advisor in the capital markets sector and is a positive advocate/mentor for women in the industry. She is active in ULI (IOPC Gold Council Leadership), ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative (Executive Committee), NAIOP and numerous charitable organizations. Val graduated from Iowa State University with a B.B.A in finance.
