Matthew R. Zaist is President and Chief Executive Officer of William Lyon Homes (NYSE:WLH), a publicly traded homebuilder and land developer. Since joining William Lyon Homes in 2000, Mr. Zaist has served in a number of corporate operational roles, including Chief Operating Officer from 2013 to 2015, Executive Vice President from 2010 to 2013 and previously, Corporate Vice President-Business Development & Operations from 2009 to 2010.
In his current role, Mr. Zaist is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of William Lyon Homes and is a member of its Executive Committee and Chairman of its Land Committee. Mr. Zaist oversaw WLH’s successful IPO and listing on the NYSE in May of 2013 and has lead all of WLH’s recent capital markets transactions which have included the sale of almost $2 billion in publicly traded equity and debt securities. In 2011 and 2012, Mr. Zaist oversaw and managed William Lyon’s restructuring efforts and successful recapitalization.
Mr. Zaist is a member of the Executive Committee for the University of Southern California’s Lusk Center for Real Estate. Prior to joining William Lyon Homes, Mr. Zaist was a principal with American Management Systems (now CGI) in their State & Local Government practice. Mr. Zaist holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
