USC Lusk Faculty Hit the Road and Give Presentations in Northern California and Orange County

June 2, 2005

More than 350 people attended the Market Watch panel given by Lusk Faculty at the 2005 PCBC Conference in San Francisco on June 2nd. Stan Ross, Raphael Bostic, Delores Conway and Gary Painter gave detailed presentations about where the economy is headed and its impact on regional real estate markets. An extensive Q&A covered questions about the western and California real estate markets, as well as the impact of changing conditions in the capital markets, regulatory environment and global markets.

Raphael Bostic joined a panel of 10 experts in a roundtable sponsored by the Orange County Register to debate whether the housing market is in a "bubble." The panel of 10 local businesspeople, financial experts and economists was sharply divided, with predictions ranging from a 20 percent drop to the possibility of ongoing increases. In fact, when asked to vote whether home prices will be higher or lower a year from now, the panel split down the middle, 5-5. On July 28th, Delores Conway addressed the OC Investor Club in Irvine with updated economic and housing data for Southern California showing how the housing market is "cooling" rather than "busting."
